Drawing on the success of last year’s opera project at the Bridgewater Hall, our residents have once again taken part in a Tameside Opera project led by the Manchester Camerata. This year’s opera focused on the theme of love, exploring barriers that two lovers must overcome in order to be together and affirming that it is never too late to find happiness. A composer from the Manchester Camerata, dramatist and four musicians from the orchestra supported the group to create all of the lyrics and melodies in the songs, as well as the narrative and the staging of the new piece.
Our residents Mildred, Sam, Mary, Brenda and Elsie attended rehearsals each week for 10 weeks supported by care staff Katie Barrett, Linda Bourne and Emma Hansell.
The first performance was held at Dukinfield Town Hall on Wednesday 29th June at 5:30pm.
The performance was repeated at Hyde’s Grafton Centre on Friday 22nd July. The article below appeared in the Tameside Reporter on 28th July about the event…..
